On January 9, 2025, the Nifty 50 index experienced a decline, closing at 23,526.50, down 0.69% from the previous day.

The index fluctuated between an intraday high of 23,689.5 and a low of 23,503.05.

This downturn was largely attributed to concerns over a potential slowdown in corporate earnings for the December quarter and indications of fewer rate cuts in the U.S.

Among the sectoral indices, financials were notably impacted, with HDFC Bank shares declining by 1.1%.

In contrast, Bajaj Auto shares rose by 1.5% following an upgrade by CLSA.

Overall, 11 out of the 13 major sectors ended the day in the red, reflecting a broad-based market weakness.
